Hello and welcome.  My name is Marie-Louise and I created  Felt Sense Psychotherapy, as a means to not only offer specialised evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), but to also draw on my experience as a yoga teacher to incorporate somatic body-based interventions within talking therapy.  I have always found the mind-body link fascinating and have witnessed real transformation and insight occuring within the therapy room when clients have been able to pay more attention to their own felt sense of a situation, problem or experience.  I offer a tailored approach which aims to address the root causes of distress and promote sustainable healing, through drawing on both body based interventions and psychotherapeutic tools to support you to move forwards in your life.   Some clients may come with a clear idea of what they wish to work on, for others it may not feel so obvious, but they have an awareness that life is feeling more of a struggle than it needs to be.  We can spend time together during our initial sessions working out what your strengths are and where the difficulties lie, what is within your control to change and what maybe isn't.  As well as using evidence based tools, a really important aspect of therapy is the therapeutic relationship, it's really important to feel as though the therapist is a good fit for you.  You are very welcome to request a free 15 minute consulation via the contact form below or to email me any questions via marie-louise@feltsensepsychotherapy.co.uk to help you ascertain whether you would like to work with me.

For neurodivergent clients (or clients querying whether they have neurodivergent traits), consideration will always be given for how to best support you so you can make the most of sessions, all approaches used can be adapted where needed and as an HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with additional sensory strategy training, I can also support you to develop your own sensory strategies to align with your own unique preferences and sensory system, if this might feel helpful.  The most important thing to know is that you are welcome to just bring yourself as you are to our sessions.  I always carry fidget toys with me but if you need to bring anything to our sessions that would help make you feel more comfortable, please know, you are very welcome to do so.

For any clients experiencing distressing thoughts of wanting to harm themselves or others in any way, I would recommend reaching out to crisis support services as they are in a better position to support you through such a difficult period.  The help I could offer during this period may not be enough to fully support you and it's vital you are well supported when in crisis.  There are different ways you can do this such as visiting A&E, contacting NHS 111 service and requesting the mental health support option, texting SHOUT to 85258 for text support offered by a crisis volunteer or contacting the Samaritons by calling 116123.

"I felt utterly helpless and so distressed when we first met and I just wanted to feel like me again.  After our sessions I feel more like me than I have for a long time.  Even before the event happened.  So I want to just say, thank you so much, I cannot put into words how much I appreciate your help and also for never making me feel like I should question myself.  But instead backing me up and helping me to feel strong and brave again.  This is something I will never forget.  Thank you again."  Jasmine.

"Thank you so much for helping me through such a difficult period in my life.  I finally feel as though I have my life back.  I am writing you this email from France as I finally managed to go on holiday and get on that plance despite all the fears I'd had for the past few years.  There's no way I could have done this without your support and help."  Pam.

"Thank you for all your support in helping me move forwards.  I was so stuck in depression and didn't even realise how stuck I was until we started to explore this in sessions.  I feel like I now have a life I enjoy and feel like I can accept myself as I am now and have a far better understanding of how ADHD impacts me, but also of my strengths too.  I'm so glad I did this therapy with you, it really has changed my life for the better." Toby.
